To Drink or Not to Drink...

My poll got me thinking... will I drink at my wedding? Ms Temple of Groom vows that she'll likely only have 1 drink (probably just a glass of champagne). I, on the other hand, am leaning towards being a little buzzed. How often will I ever have all of my friends and loved ones in one room together partying? I think I'm definitely going to keep myself in line, but I think I'm going to let loose a little. If I have to dance all night, then I better be tipsy...I find my groove WAY easier.

Anyone have an opinion about this? Did you drink at your wedding?

  1. I don't seem to recall if I drank anything other than champagne. My problem was we got Dom Perignon (quite the fancy drink, mind you) but I don't like Brut champagne. I had a glass or two and called it a day.

  2. My wedding is on Oct. 1st.
Personally, I'm not planning on drinking. Like your fiancee, I will probably only have a glass of champagne for the toast. I think I'm going to be too busy out on the dance floor and I want to keep as clear headed as I can that night so I can remember. It goes so fast.

  3. I shall be drinking but interspersed with lots of elderflower cordial!

This may change on the day when the boy's brothers play their favourite game of getting anna drunk!

Otherwise I am mostly worried about my father before his speech. He does enjoy his wine.

  4. You are correct Davey...I will only be enjoying one or two glasses of champagne. As much as everyone loves drunk Barky, I do not need to be speaking in renaissance era on our wedding night, my Liege.

  5. I just got married in July, I like most of you thought I would drink, afterall we were hosting a 3 hr open bar. Alas, nerves hit and I could barely even eat! Not one drink (had cider instead of champagne) =[ but, I think it's better that way, since I was too busy to get drunk anyway and I got to laugh at my friends that were drunk! =]

  6. My feeling is that during the actual reception I probably wouldn't have too much to drink, just because you are so busy entertaining and whatnot. But I recently became a fan of meeting close friends and family after the reception for a couple of drinks. Like, the bride and groom leave the reception, but that continues for about an hour while people continue to get their drink on, so you can go and get settled with your spouse, but then afterwards meet up with all the drunkies to thank them and have a couple of drinks. It's kind of a nice way to unwind afterwards.

  7. I planned to have atleast a couple of drinks at my wedding reception, but everytime I actually got a drink in my hand someone wanted to steal me away -- so eveytime I put a drink down to hug, kiss, chat, dance, etc. The wait staff had snatched it away before I had a chance to get back to it... didn't even get a buzz on that night AND the same thing happend with cake!
